The former could potentially have a lot to lose by defying New Jersey’s preeminent political family. It wasn’t surprising because, well, have you been paying attention to this race? It’s been obvious that the top Democratic leaders who have coalesced around Murphy are not on the same page as the party’s base. These are mostly county committee people - the little-known insiders, the most committed Democrats, the volunteer canvassers. This can’t be dismissed as just the “online left” or less-engaged easily slinging arrows at Tammy Murphy behind a keyboard. When I say shocking, I mean in terms of what it means for the Democratic establishment. Andy Kim’s big win over Tammy Murphy in the Monmouth County Democratic convention was shocking. ![]()
